Taken in Big Basin State Park.  The Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) is a long-living tree species that can reach up to 2200 years old.  They are hardy, resilient trees that can sprout from seed, tree stumps and roots.  It is not uncommon for trees to reach heights of 200-300 ft.
